Homescape 2025

Pigment-printed photography‭, overlapped textile waste, enclosed in a laser-engraved acrylic glass frame

60 x 40 cm

The artistic project‭ ‬Homescape‭ ‬combines landscape photographs with fabric photographs made from discarded textiles to highlight the problems of the clothing industry‭. ‬The clean air and environment of Western societies are made possible by landfills and production plants far from Western Europe‭. ‬Still‭, ‬the Earth is often not so separate‭, ‬and environmental issues such as global warming and the microplastic problem are unavoidable even in Western regions‭. ‬Therefore‭, ‬this project combines fabric waste in acrylic frames overlaid with landscape photographs of Vienna to create a photo that evokes an ironic reflection on the concept of European landscapes and the ideal‭ ‬of a pristine environment‭. ‬
The project raises the question of the inequities of the textile production‭, ‬consumption‭, ‬and disposal processes‭. ‬It also addresses themes such as women’s labor‭, ‬environmental issues‭, ‬racism‭, ‬and power dynamics between nations‭, ‬inviting viewers to explore these issues from a new perspective‭. ‬

This project was supported by the Cultural Department of Vienna (MA7), Austria.
